You can Do It Yourself: A 5-channel IR remote control system (transmitter & receiver). The system uses the RC5 transmitting protocol which is probably the most used by hobbyists. The remote control transmitter is based on a PIC12F617 microcontroller and the receiver is based on the popular PIC16F84A.

This is a 5V mini power supply unit. It is capable of driving an 1A load at excellent line and load regulation. The circuit is based on the LM2575N-5 step-down switching regulator.
